What You're Watching Saturday Night

Image
By Matt G Golden State Warriors vs. Philadelphia 76ers 8:00 PM ABC It’s NBA Saturday Night, and that means only one thing… another primetime game for the Warriors. I know the Warriors create decent ratings, but honestly, ABC, can’t you select any other teams to showcase? There are other teams in the league that play exciting, up-tempo basketball. You know what other game I’d rather watch? The 9 pm game on Saturday between the Milwaukee Bucks and Utah Jazz. Give me the number 1 seed in the Eastern Conference versus the 6 seed in the Western Conference. Give me the favorite for MVP against one of the favorites for Defensive Player of the Year. Give me something new to watch. Every night, while going to bed, I put on NBA TV and love seeing the “lesser” teams play.  Have you watched the Sacramento Kings play? Man, I eat them up.  Have you watched the Nets play? They look like a

Saturday, February 23rd Houston Rockets at Golden State Warriors 8:30 pm on ABC In ABC’s primetime matchup, the Houston Rockets take on the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors come into the game atop the Western Conference, while the Rockets are moving up the standings and currently sit in 5th. The Warriors, prior to the All-Star break, won eight out of their last ten games and seem to be getting into a shape, even though Kevin Durant stated that he believed the Warriors haven’t played their best… yet. The last time these two teams played was on Thursday, January 3 rd . The Rockets won in overtime, 135-134, on a step-back three from (who else) James Harden. During the game, the Warriors had a 20-point lead in the first half, only to watch the reigning MVP take over and bring his team back. The Warriors were still up 2 with 5.5 seconds left in overtime, when Harden took the inbounds pass, used a PJ Tucker screen, and hoisted up a deep three over Draymond Green and Klay Th

The MMAs - Matt's Midseason Awards

Donald Trump’s Wall Award This award, the complete antithesis of an MVP Award, is given to a player that is dividing, polarizing, and you question their true motive. Winner: Anthony Davis, New Orleans Pelicans (?) You know when you do or say something, you realize it wasn’t the smartest thing to do/ say, but you can’t back down now? You know when the “President” stated that he was going to build a wall between the US and Mexico, and he wasn’t going to have Mexico pay for it? Well, now the President is declaring State of Emergencies to get his wall built as the country is divided over it. Now, I segue to Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans. What an absolute soap opera Anthony Davis and the Pelicans have become. For a team that swept a playoff series from the Trailblazers a year ago, the Pelicans have become a team divided, and now, a team lacking true authority. The Pelicans fired their General Manager, Dell Demps, and are hoping to secure a future GM that can become R

Oklahoma City Thunder at the Houston Rockets 8:30 PM  ABC The whole purpose of my little entries is to entice you to watch the NBA “Game of the Week.” I could sell you on the fact that this is currently a matchup between the 3rd and 5th seeds in the loaded Western Conference. It matches up the run-away front-runner for MVP, James Harden, against a top-five MVP candidate in Paul George. And, oh yeah, the game also includes one of the most dominant point guards in NBA history in Chris Paul with another point guard that is averaging (another!) triple-double in Russell Westbrook. This sounds like excellent television, correct? Enter Lee Corso… “Not so fast my friend!” Who is the real winner in this matchup? The basketball air pump. No team seem to dribble the air out of a ball quite like the Rockets and Thunder. Both teams never seem to run any sets, and instead, just keep the ball in their superstars hand, run ISO ball, and then hoist up a stepback three or try to drive to the

New to Five Foot Nothing Sports, 'What You're Watching Saturday Night', staff members will either represent the College Basketball game of the week, the NBA game of the week or the movie of the week, because let's face it, if you're living somewhere where its cold, sometimes its better to just stay inside and turn on the tube. But how should you spend your time? Watching the fundamentals of college basketball? The flare of the NBA? Or the best NBA and maybe AMC have to offer? We will attempt to make it easier for you to decide... The case for NCAA: Coach Dubs #1 Tennessee @ Texas A&M 8:00 ESPN As we start the shortest month of the year the intensity starts to heat up.  College basketball teams are trying to make their final push for the Big Dance in March.  The big ESPN matchup at 8 pm is #1 Tennessee at Texas A&M, which is not very appealing. And the bigger problem is it does not really matter who wins this game.  It will hav
